EcoElectrica's investors include Gas Natural, with a 50% share, and a joint venture made up of International Power and Mitsui that together hold the remaining 50% share. Gas Natural is a Spanish energy company, while International Power is a leading independent power generation business based in the United Kingdom . It has an interest in 37 power stations in 18 countries around the world. Mitsui is a Japanese conglomerate with active participation in several fields and a concentration in industry and transportation. Representatives from the three companies serve on the EcoEléctrica board.
